How to Deal with Amazon’s Incorrect HFSS Label

Search Everywhere

HFSS regulations, introduced by the UK government to curb the promotion of unhealthy foods, restrict advertising for products deemed high in fat, salt, or sugar. Amazon has implemented these rules by requiring sellers to mark their products as “Healthy,” “Less Healthy,” or “Not in Scope” in Seller Central. However, Amazon are labelling all kinds of ASINS unrelated to food—like beauty items, supplements, or household goods as HFSS.

This incorrect HFSS status on your asins means your adverts cant run. Trying to get Amazon to change the classification through seller support is not possible.

The only solution is to upload a flat file with the HFSS column marked ‘Not In Scope’ . Once uploaded your asins should be eligible for advertising again within 24hours. It may be the case that you need to recreate the asin in a fresh ad campaign, though lately I have seen the asins just spring back into life.
